The mission of our Solano Community College Counseling Office is to provide services, programs and opportunities that promote student learning, development, purpose, persistence and success for a changing and diverse community. You will find that the counseling and support staff are here to help you every step of the way toward reaching your educational goals.

Ways to Talk with a Counselor

Please note services may vary depending on the time of year, such as  First-Time College Student Education Planning Workshops in late Spring/Summer. Please see the Services section for specific services available.

Appointments - These are 30 or 60 minutes private individual meetings with counselors. 

  • If you are on Probation II or Academic Dismissal, you will see a TAP (Targeted Academic Persistence) Counselor, please call 707 864-7000 ext. 4752 or go to Bld. 400, rm. 429 (main campus)

30 min appointments are for:

  • one semester education plans with less than 20 units and no transcripts from other schools
  • general transfer questions, major/career discussions

60 min appointments are for:

  • degree/transcript review for graduation or transferring; transfer application assistance
  • multiple semester course plans (comprehensive education plans)
  • review of more than 20 units on transcripts from other schools
  • financial aid application forms which require comprehensive education plan

  • Online Appointment Booking System - 30 minute appointments only
  • Please make sure to ask for appropriate appointment length when calling. Appointment are usually not available the same day, they are scheduled for the future and can fill 1-2 weeks in advance, especially in summer or around registration times, so please plan ahead. If you are 10 minutes late (or 20 min. for a 60 min appointment) your appointment may be given away to another student and you will need to reschedule.

Express Counseling - Quick questions answered by a Counselor at our Fairfield counseling front desk. 
Pre-requisite clearances, questions on course substitutions, petition signatures, or other short questions are appropriate for Express.  Full semester education plans or transcript reviews are not able to be done through the Express time.

Summer Services (May 23 - August 2)

Counseling Office Hours:  Mon.-Thurs. 8:30am-5:00 pm; Fri. 8:30 - 3pm; Closed: July 4

 First-Time College Students - Sign up for Education Planning Small Group Workshop: New students to college should sign up for a small-group education planning workshop. If you have units from other colleges that you would like applied to your degree/certificate for Solano, please schedule an individual appointment.  These small group workshops will provide an overview of the requirements needed to complete a certificate or associate’s degree at Solano Community College. Students will leave the workshop with a one-two semester education plan and a date/time for a 60 minute follow up appointment later in the semester to complete a comprehensive (all semesters) education plan.  Assistance will be provided for registering for the current semester and clearing any course pre-requisites.

You MUST have applied to Solano Community College and have a student ID# (usually starts with "10...") to reserve a spot in a workshop.

Registration Aid Lab
Counselors will be available in the Transfer Center, Rm. 402 to assist with one semester education plans, course changes of existing plans and strategies if courses are full or you are waitlisted.  Transcript evaluations will not be available, please make an appointment for this service.

Thursday, August 1 – Friday, August 9: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm (3:00 pm Fridays)
Monday, August 12 – Wednesday, August 14: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Appointments: 30 min. - 60 min. one-on-one appointments with a counselors to discuss educational goals, create education plans, determine majors, and set plans for transferring to a 4-year school to obtain a Bachelor's degree. Due to limited staffing in summer, individual appointments may book out weeks in advance, therefore please plan ahead. Priority may be given to continuing students.

Express Counseling: Quick questions answered at the Fairfield front desk by a Counselor. Education plans are not done in Express counseling, but questions regarding requirements, forms needing a counselor signature or other major or transfer questions can be answered.  Express Counseling is expanded during summer to 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Mon - Thurs. and 8:30 - 3:00 pm Fri.

 Academic Year Services (Fall and Spring Semester)

**Please Note: Monday, Apr. 15 - Thursday Apr. 18 faculty are not on campus. Counseling Services will have limited Counseling services/hours on those days. Counseling will be closed Friday, April 19. Thursday, May 23, Counseling will close at 5pm for Commencement.**
